We recognise that a lot of young people without personal connections have a hard time getting work experience while they are still in school. For this reason, we would like to create a list of work experience open to school-age students.

We are looking for someone to research work experience in the legal sector open to school-age students. This can be solicitor orientated, barrister orientated or have any other link to the legal sector.

If you can locate when the scheme is open (just the month is fine no exact date needed), what the work experience is and a very brief description as to how you apply. If the link can also be provided to a website that explains it then we can put the link in the resource.

We have had very brief research ourselves and the list is below. If you are able to provide further information on the below places that offer work experience such as when and how you apply with the link, then this would be helpful. If you notice that any of the below no longer provide work experience, then please also let us know.

We understand that during the pandemic work experience may be limited to virtual placements etc. but if they intend to continue with in-person experience then please still add it to the list.

  • Barristers Chambers that offer work experience: Matrix Chambers, Hardwicke Chambers, Garden Court Chambers, QEB Hollis Whiteman

  • Bar Council: Bar Placement Scheme / E-mentoring

  • Schemes: ‘Pathways to Law’ by Sutton Trust

  • Solicitor work experience: Pinsent Masons, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner ‘Career Kickstart’, Eversheds Sutherland

  • Go to your local magistrates’ court – sit in the public viewing gallery.
