LEDUCATE PARTNERS WITH NOTTINGHAM SCHOOLS FOR UNIVERSITY PREPAREDNESS DAY

On 31st January, Leducate partnered with the Redhill Trust for its annual Moving On Day. In total, almost 300 Year 13 students from five schools in the Redhill Trust in Nottinghamshire attended a day of interactive, rotational talks to inspire and prepare them for life at university or their first apprenticeship.

Throughout the course of the day, former pupils and students from Nottingham Trent University spoke to students about how to make a good start, and get support, whilst studying. There was a further session for those applying for higher apprenticeships about CVs and interviews.

Leducate supported the Redhill trust on the theme of ‘Health and Relationships’, leading discussions on consent, safe sex, healthy and toxic relationships, and family rights.

Adam Kayani, Director of Leducate, said:

“We are excited to be partnering with Redhill Trust to support students as they prepare for life after school. Healthy relationships and consent are subjects that most of us encounter at university and in adult life, and it’s crucial that young people know the law as they embark on the next stage of their exciting journey into adulthood.”

Leducate also supported seminars on banking, including bank accounts, overdrafts and the laws around student loans, debt and finance. Other themes covered throughout the day included coping with stress through mindfulness and yoga, and how to budget.

Susan Sharp, Redhill Trust Director of Post 16, said:

“We are really pleased to be able to run Moving On day for the fourth year. It gives students an opportunity to meet and work with students beyond their own schools in order to mirror what starting University or a new job is like. At the end of the day, they will have taken on a wealth of information that will prepare them for life in modern Britain, and they will have developed some important skills”
